Born in 1960, Michel Korb, son of Nathan Korb (Francis Lemarque) and Ginny Richès, studied piano before turning to music writing. Based in Paris France, he studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and, in 1984, was awarded his diploma in film scoring.
While following a jazz programme, Michel Korb came to explore various other areas of music, including world, classical and electronic music and worked with Didier Malherbe, Renaud Pion, Philippe Smadje and Roland Romanelli. Progressively, his love for music and passion for film drew him more and more into cinema.
To date, he has composed the scores for several feature length films, including : Les Quatre Saisons d’Espigoule by Christian Philibert, Vodka Lemon by Hiner Saleem (winner of the San Marco Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2003), To Take a Wife by Ronit and Shlomi Elkabetz (winner of the Venice Film Festival Audience Award in 2004) and 7 Days by Ronit Elkabetz. Chez Gino by Samuel Benchetrit with Anna Mouglalis, José Garcia and Sergi Lopez. Henaut Président by Michel Muller. The Silence Beneath the Bark by Joanna Lurie. He has also composed the music for more than 30 documentary films, TV movies and short fiction films, including : Le puits by Jerôme Boulbès (nominated for a Cesar award in 2001 and awarded at the Clermont Ferrand festival in 2000), Nouvelles de la tour L by Samuel Benchetrit, Le Silence Sous l'écorce by Joanna Lurie (awarded at the Lucas film festival 2010, short list for the Oscars 2011), La mort de Tau by Jerôme Boulbès (awarded for the best animated film at the Stiges festival 2002) Malveillos by Kram and Plof (prize at the Avoriaz festival 1993), Belleville Tour - Telefilm for France 2 by Zakia Bouchaala, Eclosion by Jerôme Boulbès, Paris Années Folles by Fabien Beziat, Picasso l'inventaire d'une vie by Hugues Nancy, Elles étaient en guerre 1 et 2 by Fabien Beziat, Les fées du logis - Telefilm by Pascal Forneri and L'épopée des gueules noires by Fabien Beziat and Hugues Nancy.
He worked with Anne Kreis and Catherine Lagarde (for the play Dialogue de Bêtes) and he works as a composer and arranger with Rachel Desbois, Francis Lemarque and Anna Mouglalis. He has worked with several orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the European Orchestra.
In 2016 he created a show featuring his father’s (Francis Lemarque) songs and recorded the album « Michel Korb Sings Francis Lemarque » to be released in 2019. Guests stars in this project include Thomas Dutronc, Sanseverino, Enzo Enzo, Romain Didier and Audrey.
